Making CONTACT.

This week, I began the process of cold calling. Throughout the week, I had called numerous

professionals. This task was a lot harder than I had initially expected, and it was disappointing to be rejected so many times. Many of the facilities did not answer the phone, so I had to leave a message. Other places took my name, email and number. However, there were a lot of places that completely rejected me. Initially, I took the rejections personally, but quickly learned to brush them off and keep trying.

Additionally, I learned that cold calling is difficult because the professionals do not consider high school students to be a priority. I had hoped that more of them would be excited to meet students who wanted to pursue that career in the future. Through this process, I found it was very easy to get discouraged, but I learned that cold calling requires patience and persistence. The professionals that I did get a chance to speak with gave me their contact information and said that they would give me some contact information for other radiologists or imaging facilities that may be willing to interview with me.

I also wrote my topic proposal this week, a formal presentation of the field of study I plan to pursue and the reasons why that is an appropriate choice for me. Here, I discussed the specific area I intend to pursue, which is radiology, how I became interested in this field and experiences I have had that would benefit me in pursuing this study, along with any knowledge, skills, talents or character traits that will enable me to successfully pursue radiology. Furthermore, I seem to be getting faster at typing up assessments and

weekly reports. As a result, I feel that I am using my time for effectively.

Overall, this was a very big week for me. As I continue to make cold calls, my goal is to be able to schedule more interviews and learn more about my field of study. I am very excited for the business symposium this next week, where I will be able to meet more professionals, conduct interviews and develop my professional skills. This upcoming week, I plan to continue cold calling and scheduling interviews. I look forward to speaking with more professionals and continuing to research a future career path.
