This week, I had my first meeting with my mentor regarding my final product. Through this phone call, I was hoping to get more area specific guidance on my final product, which I did. During this time, we discussed my final product, common brain disorders to research, how to begin examining medical images for as well as how to go about my final product. A highlight of this mentor meeting was that I was able to find more direction in beginning my final product. I was able to find a concrete neurological disorder that I can begin detailedly researching and learning more about, specific cerebral amyloid angiopathy. During our next meeting, I might be able to look at specific cerebral amyloid angiopathy CT and MR imaging findings.
I'm super excited to be able to start looking at patients CT and MRI scans and being able to understand them, learn how to read them better and show my mentor what I have learned on my own so far. By our next meeting, I hope to gain enough knowledge on this disease, so that I would be able to diagnose a patient with it, essentially something I should be able to do after reading the introduction and medical assessments of the patient. I plan on understanding a case study I found on a reputable website, pertaining to the same disease, and then applying my knowledge on a patient case study more similar to a case from Baylor Scott and White University Center. After this, I can start understanding the medical images, so that I can better understand and interpret the medical images given to me later on. My next goal after understanding the disease and its accompanying CT and MRI images is to create a comprehensive review over cerebral amyloid angiopathy.
