RESUME editing.
This week in ISM, I created my curriculum vitae. Well, I took my old résumé and polished it to make it ISM ready. My résumé had previously showcased my strengths in academics and school organization, to make it ISM ready I had to redesign it do it would show case my healthcare strengths and experiences.
I had a rather unexpectedly difficult time remembering all the different duties I had while working as a hospital volunteer over the span of seven months, since I rotated hospitals and clinical sites within each hospital very often. Furthermore, I had to effectively and concisely describe my responsibilities without over extending the length of my résumé, that itself was just as difficult. In addition to all of that, I had again redesigned my resume two days prior to when it would be due.
Originally, my ISM résumé was on google docs, but I felt as though the template was overused and not unique to me. Since I was not entirely happy with how my resume looked on google docs, I redesigned it on canva; and I'm happy to say that it represents me a lot fits my personality better than a generic google docs résumé template.
This week, I also completed my call log that I will use to contact and call professionals to set up informational interviews. When constructing my contact list for interviews, there were so many factors to consider. How far does this professional work from my school, what are their credentials, would they be interested in setting up an interview with a high school student? and would they have enough time to talk to a high school student? I could not just slap some names down and call it a day. It took time to look through various websites and read who the professional was. By conducting these interviews, I would get the opportunity to learn even more about the radiology and the lifestyle of a radiologist.
